Do Not Sell or Share My Personal Information
Some US privacy laws — including California’s CCPA/CPRA — give you the right to opt out of the “sale” or “sharing” of your personal information for targeted advertising. Here’s how that works on MyExpatGo and how to exercise it.

1. Your right to opt out
Some US state privacy laws — most notably the California Consumer Privacy Act (CCPA), as amended by the CPRA — give residents the right to tell a business not to “sell” or “share” their personal information for certain purposes, particularly targeted advertising.
MyExpatGo does not sell personal information in the traditional sense. We do not sell lists of email addresses or user profiles for money. MyExpatGo is an information and lead-generation platform that helps US households plan international moves and connect with vetted moving companies and partners — not an advertising network.
However, some of the analytics and advertising-related tools that can make a website work smoothly may be interpreted as a “sale” or “sharing” of personal information under these laws — for example, when data is passed to an advertising or analytics partner in exchange for value such as insights or ad measurement. This page explains how you can opt out of that.
Plain-English summary: we don’t sell your data for money. But some analytics/advertising tools may legally count as a “sale” or “share.” You can turn those off any time using the controls below.
2. What “sell” and “share” mean here
Under some US state privacy laws, the words “sell” and “share” have a broad meaning. They can include passing personal information to an advertising or analytics partner in exchange for value — money is not required; receiving services, insights, or ad measurement in return can be enough.
“Sell”
Disclosing personal information to a third party in exchange for monetary or other value — including passing it to an ad/analytics provider for insights or measurement.
“Share”
Making personal information available to a third party for cross-context behavioural advertising — whether or not for money.
In practice, MyExpatGo mainly uses personal information to:
- Respond to quote requests and service enquiries you submit through the site.
- Connect you with the partners you request — such as moving companies, housing platforms (e.g. AltoVita), and other relocation providers.
- Run basic analytics and improve the website — for example, understanding which destination guides are most read.
Sharing your details with a moving company because you asked to be introduced is a service you requested, not a “sale” or “share” for advertising — see section 4.
3. How to submit a request
You can opt out of any “sale” or “sharing” of your personal information for targeted advertising in two simple ways:
Option A — Turn off Analytics & Marketing cookies
Open cookie settings and switch off the Analytics and Marketing categories. This stops non-essential tracking tools that could be considered a “sale” or “share” from running.
Option B — Email a written request
Email privacy@myexpatgo.com and put “Do Not Sell or Share My Personal Information” in the subject line. Tell us your name and email so we can identify your data.
4. What happens if you opt out
If you opt out, MyExpatGo will not use your personal information for targeted advertising, and will not disclose it to advertising or analytics partners in ways considered a “sale” or “share” under relevant laws, as far as is technically feasible.
Important: some essential uses may still require using your information. For example, if you submit a quote request, we still need your contact and move details to respond and to perform the service you asked for. Opting out of “sale”/“share” does not prevent those necessary, requested uses.
We will apply your opt-out within a reasonable time after we receive it. If you later change your mind, you can re-enable cookies or withdraw your request — though we may ask you to confirm that you understand the change.
5. Relationship to our partners
Shared only to fulfil your request
When you ask to be connected with a moving company, a housing provider (such as AltoVita), or another partner, MyExpatGo shares your details solely to fulfil that specific request. This is a service you requested, not a “sale” or “share” for advertising.
Partners are independent controllers
Those partners are independent controllers of the data they receive and have their own privacy and “do not sell” practices. We encourage you to review each partner’s privacy policy directly.
6. Other privacy rights
Depending on where you live, you may have additional rights such as accessing, correcting, or deleting your personal information, and limiting certain processing. These are described in full in our Privacy Policy.
